BGSB University’s Srinagar Staffer Goes ‘Missing’
Srinagar: A family from Nowshera area of Kashmir’s capital city Srinagar Thursday made fervent appeal to Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, and Director General of Police to help trace their “missing” son.
The distressed family said that their son, Obaidullah Lone (26), who worked as a daily wager at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri is missing ever since he left his home for work in May.
“He was at home for the last two months and on May 20 left for Rajouri to resume his duties. He works as a daily wager at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University; we were in touch with Obaidullah till 23rd of May,” said the missing youth’s uncle.
He further said that Obaidullah’s parents were perplexed after his cell phone went off. “Next day his friend, Sarfaraz Ahmad, who also works at the varsity as orderly received call on Obaidullah’s phone and informed us that he left home for market but didn’t return. This was a virtual shocker for the whole family,” he added.
He said the family then approached police station Poonch and filed a missing report in this regard.
The uncle of the missing youth said they met Director General of Police and other higher-ups to seek the whereabouts of Obaidullah but all in vain. He, however, clarified that this is “purely a missing case and linking it with militancy won’t make any sense”.
When contacted, SDPO concerned, Nawaz Mohammad said that police have got some vital leads in this regard.
“Investigation is on and we have got some important leads, we have called his parents here as well,” the official told a local news gathering agency, CNS.
