Clashes erupt in Anantnag after Friday prayers
Srinagar: Clashes between protesters and government forces erupted in southern Kashmir’s Anantnag soon after the culmination of Friday prayers.
Eyewitnesses said that hundreds of protesters took to streets after the congregational prayers who raised anti-India and anti-Israel slogans.
However, the protesters were intercepted at Rishi Bazar resulting in clashes.
They said that forces resorted to tear smoke shelling against the stone pelting protesters and arrested many of them near the Jamia Masjid.
Joint Resistance Leadership had called for observing the last Friday of ongoing Ramzan as “Qudus Day and Kashmir Day” to highlight what they called the occupation of Palestine and Kashmir.
