CM Mehbooba reaches Kreeri to pay tributes to slain Shujaat Bukhari
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday, when Muslims across Kashmir are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr, visited Kreeri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and offered her condolences to the bereaved family of slain journalist Shujaat Bukhari and pay tributes to late editor.
Bukhari was killed on Thursday evening after unidentified gunmen, believed to be four in number, fired into his vehicle that he had just boarded with his two PSOs.
One of the suspects was arrested by the police yesterday, hours after his photo was released on social media.
Thousands of mourners joined the funeral procession of Bukhari at his ancestral village Kreeri in Baramulla on Friday. Braving heavy rain, villagers, friends and colleagues followed the procession through the streets of the village.
Bukhari, an ace journalist, established Kashmir Media Group in 2008 which publishes vernaculars, The Rising Kashmir, Buland Kashmir, Sagarmal and Parcham.
