Ramadan, the golden opportunity for expiation, but ‘alas’
By: Mushtaq Wani
Among the five pillars of Islam, fasting is one of the reward commands of Almighty Allah.
This great pillar of Islam is the redemption and rejuvenation of spiritual entity and corporal being and the same kind of worship cannot be substituted by any other, that is why in the holy Quran the Almighty Allah says “O ye who believe fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self -restraint.
Narrated by Abu Hurrarah (RA) that our beloved prophet (SAW), Messenger of Allah says, when the month of Ramadan starts the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of hell are closed and the devils are chained (Al-Bukhari). And in the first night of Ramadan a call from Almighty Allah cries out, O seeker of good deeds, repentance proceed and O seeker of evil desist.
The merits of the fasting during the month of Ramadan are invigorating and officiating the spiritual sanctity which are freely blessed to all Muslims by Almighty Allah. The holy month of Ramadan is the month of generosity, salvation, raising of belief and faith that can be hardly achieved in any other month of year.
Fasting during the month of Ramadan, hold the promise of great reward from Almighty Allah. The Hadith from our beloved prophet (SAW) speaks of a number of virtues associated, that all the previous sins are forgiven of men /women who fast to please Allah.
In the Holy Quran Allah says “fasting is specially for me, I will give reward for it”.
It is the grace and mercy of Almighty Allah, being the creator, the master of universe the king of kingdoms, the entity of non-existence, the deserve of pride and animator of every species bestowed us with such profuse opportunity by this holy month of Ramadan.
But alas! It is with great agony to say that in Kashmir where 90% people are Muslims, are unfortunately showing their lack of reverence, docility, submission and obeisance in this sacred month. It is disheartening that some people are openly violating the sanctity of Ramadan.
Remember contempt of Allah’s symbols and commands is the main cause of Allah’s wrath, rebuke and chastisement upon the Muslims witnessed in the present era.
“If the holy month of Ramadan will be only just welcomed without proper Taqwa, sensitivity, permanent caution , continuous fair then it is due that there will be perennial perdition in the world and hereafter”.
It is a great loss to the believer who found the month of blessing, absolution and expiation but not attain the ultimate goal of deliverance.
